michael officially dislikes

...the decemberists' newest album picaresque...which I kind of get a kick out of. To me it's like a cross between They Might Be Giants, Oasis and an earnestly singing enemy. That said I'm admittedly a little sick of that album myself after having listened to it....seven times ? I think my kid brother would like it though. and somehow it fits a summer on the cape.

The (mikecool) jury is out re: teenage fanclub man-made....yey!

I've never been able to get into them. Just one of those things. I can never describe what it is about them, either. I guess their image/personality/aesthetic just rubs me the wrong way somehow, and I just don't dig the music enough besides that.

I can get into TFC. I think Man-Made is a really nice album.

I don't really love the Decemberists, but they definitely have a certain appeal. My friend Lainie and her sons Monk and Cole all love that album. In fact, they play it all the time so I might start liking it because it makes me think of Lainie, Monk, and Cole.

I don't really love them by any means either. But I appreciate their goofiness. It makes sense to me that kids would like it...

mikey likes it. or at least he liked man-made when I played it for him.
